Four in a Bed visits The Fauconberg

In the latest issue of Community Update, we spoke about our experience on Channel 4's Four in a Bed. If you have not watched already, make sure to find the episodes on Channel 4! Read the article below on our time of the programme.

Four in a Bed visits The Fauconberg Arms

Based in Coxwold, a quaint North Yorkshire village nestled in the North York Moors National Park, The Fauconberg Arms is a traditional 17th-century pub that provides real ales and wholesome food. Step inside and you’ll find flagstone floors, wooden beams and cosy log fires, creating the perfect atmosphere to enjoy a hearty meal, a locally brewed pint, or the perfect country B&B break inside one of its beautiful eight bedrooms.

Participating in Channel 4’s Four in a Bed, The Fauconberg Arms took part in the British reality TV game show. “I had been approached every year about taking part in Four in a Bed but it was only after I was prompted to take up this opportunity by my amazing marketing team, that we decided it would be great exposure for the pub.” Annelies stated, who has been running The Fauconberg Arms since 2017 and took part in the show with her daughter Claudia.

We caught up with Annelies and asked her about how she found her experience being on the popular TV show.

“It was unusual at first, especially getting used to wearing a microphone and having cameras rolling constantly but we met some lovely people and it showcased our facilities and services, so I think it was a very positive experience.

Annelies continued, “It was also a great insight into other people’s beliefs in the industry. It was interesting to experience how others run their businesses.”

Throughout the week, Annelies’ passion for food was often commented upon. This became a popular topic of conversation among the contestants, when she revealed that she is in fact a trained Chef. Both Annelies and Claudia, place the utmost importance on providing a high standard of food. We asked Annelies whether she still believes that food is just as important as the bedrooms, she told us that, “Yes, certainly it is within my establishment. As we are a pub foremost, that provides rooms. Our food offering is massively important to us.”

In terms of the restrictions lifting and the hospitality industry opening again, The Fauconberg Arms is to open on April 30th for the Bank Holiday weekend for outside food and drink.

“Come visit us!” Annelies stated, “I think COVID-19 has highlighted the benefits of a great British staycation and appreciating the sights and places that are on your doorstep. We have some sensational views in York and we offer a central location with lots to do nearby.”

Very kind staff and picturesque setting
We stayed at the Fauconberg Arms earlier this week. It’s a lovely old pub in a very picturesque village and area. The staff were so helpful, even picking us up and dropping us off in the snow.
