Helmsley
Find quaint, unique and independent shops in the heart of Helmsley. Home to Britain's official “Best Small Shop” of 2015, the shopping experience in Helmsley will find you bespoke jewellery, books, home accessories and more! A true friendly and personal shopping experience in the midst the exuberant and only market town in the North York Moors. Helmsley is a mere 16 minute drive from The Fauconberg or a 30 minute bus journey through the North York Moors.

York
York is a historic city just a half an hour drive from The Fauconberg. Filled with historic landmarks such as the stunning York Minster and its breathtaking city walls, York is a local city full of vibrancy and history.
In keeping with its Viking history, York is the home to a selection of stores hidden amongst medieval and Georgian architecture. Shops range from luxury high street retailers, such as department store Fenwicks, to independent stores, offering a unique boutique shopping experience. Take a stroll down The Shambles, one of the best-preserved medieval shopping streets in Europe and visit the inspiration behind Diagon Alley from the movie adaptation of the Harry Potter series.
Its colonial history runs deep in the high street with the popular Jorvic Viking Centre attracting tourists to the beautiful city and teaching many of the history. You can take part in historic walking tours of the city to learn about the fascinating history of York.
Harrogate
Perhaps you fancy a day trip a little further afield, Harrogate is a 45 minute drive from The Fauconberg and is surrounded by beautiful scenery. Knaresborough and Ripon are close by, within the Harrogate District, making Harrogate a great day out for The Fauconberg guests!
From designer labels and high street brands to unique, small independent stores, you will be spoilt for choice for your retail therapy around Harrogate. With tree lined avenues and stylish streets, James Street, Montpellier Quarter and Cold Bath Road prove popular destinations for tourists and shopper alike. Harrogate’s townhomes numerous boutiques, show shops, chocolatiers and much more to explore!
Perhaps you need a break from shopping and to relax with a beautifully crafted gin and tonic. The Slingsbury Gin Experience in Harrogate is the perfect way to learn of the history of Slingsbury and get to know all about the craftsmanship behind the distillery of your favourite tipple.
Ripon and Knaresborough host weekly markets powered by familiar names and smaller gift shops to spark ideas for the perfect gift. You can enjoy the market stalls amongst Ripon’s beautiful square every Thursday, hosting over 100 stalls with a wide variety of shopping to be completed!
If you fancy a picturesque riverside walk or a row down the famous River Nidd, then stop by Knaresborough for a tranquil shopping experience. Each Wednesday, Knaresborough hosts a Market Day where you’ll find fresh seasonal produce, stalls selling ‘everything from handbags to hardware’ and of course, the very best traditional Yorkshire Pork Pies. The Town Crier will even tell you the news and local events at 11am and 1pm in the square!
